Abstract: The problem of finding conditions for a real n-tuple to be the spectrum of a sum of Hermitian matrices with given spectra has been solved more than 20 years ago.
In this talk we present the open problem of actually constructing a pair of matrices realizing a given such spectrum and make some comments about it.
